Fixing Procedure 12 Easy Step :
Step 1.
Ensure the surface is dry and free of dirt, oil or paint, and any loose
or unsound material removed back to a solid background. Mark the substrate-wall
where the mould is to be fixed using a chalk
line or stringline. |
Step 2.
Measure and mark the back of the moulding using a square. Cut the
mould with a sharp fine tooth
saw or electric drop saw. (If mitres are required, it is best to
use a mitre box.)
Step 3.
Attach mould with Stronghold/Multifix or Enerfoam.
Stronghold/Multifix – 20mm dabs on the back of moulding
approx. 300mm centres (larger dabs will
be required on larger moulds.)
Enerfoam – spray 2 x 10mm beads, 1 approx. 20mm from the
top of the mould and the other approx.
20mm up from the bottom of the mould.
Step 4.
Reposition mould where marked to be fixed, press firmly. Slide
mould from side to side (to ensure full
contact across the back face). Pull mould away from substrate. Stronghold/Multifix – is
left off for approx 5 minutes.
Enerfoam – is only left off for approx. 2 minutes. (Enderfoam
does go off quite quickly, do not leave).
•
Adhesive must be applied to all mitres and butt joins.
Step 5.
Replace mould when adhesive is tacky. Press firmly on surface,
but avoid hitting, to ensure mould is
not damaged.
•
Propping can be used to ensure moulds will not slide down the
substrate ie. Small timber blocks or
battens temporarily fixed with concrete nails under moulds until
adhesive has had time to settle and
adhere fully.
Step 6.
Once propping has been removed, moulds are ready for sealing.
Step 7.
Use masking tape around perimeter edge at a minimum 5mm away
from mould, to ensure a clean
and neat job.
Step 8.
The sealant must be smoothed over with your finger or a damp
cloth quite firmly to ensure a positive
bond between the wall and the moulding. Once dry, tape can be
removed.
Step 9.
The patching kit consists of two parts.
• Part 1
– Mould liquid
• Part 2 – Sand Finish
Smear liquid over joints and raw ends with a spatula.
Step 10.
Sand is then sprinkled over the liquid on the mould.
Step 11.
Once 3 coats have been applied, allow to dry for approx 15 minutes.
Step 12.
Lightly sand back until joins are no longer visible and raw ends
are covered.
•
Alternatively, Liquid and sand can be mixed together and applied,
but 3 coats are still required and recommended.
